“John McClane is now almost a full-blown alcoholic and is suspended from the NYPD. But when a bomb goes off in the Bonwit Teller Department Store the police go insane trying to figure out what’s going on. Soon, a man named Simon calls and asks for McClane. Simon tells Inspector Walter Cobb that McClane is going to play a game called “Simon Says”. He says that McClane is going to do the tasks he assigns him. If not, he’ll blow off another bomb. With the help of a Harlem electrician, John McClane must race all over New York trying to figure out the frustrating puzzles that the crafty terrorist gives him. Trivia: As in the previous Die Hard (1988), the German spoken in this movie is mostly grammatically incorrect. A few lines are so wrong that they have to be considered gibberish (most notably the exchange of the fake cops, who are given the briefcase bomb by Zeus (Samuel L. Jackson)). In the German release, however, all of the lines that were German in the original movie are grammatically correct, fitting the context and some of the terrorists even have an East German accent.
Goofs: Continuity: McClane says that the Yankees tickets were behind the home team dugout at Yankee Stadium, but when Zeus arrives at the stadium, the seats he goes to are behind the visitors’ dugout. The Yankees’ dugout says “New York Yankees” on top rather than “Welcome to Yankee Stadium”, which is seen in the film. Also, the right field foul pole, down the first base line, can clearly be seen behind Zeus.
